Andrart was created in 2015 by the Romanian artist, Andrada Maria Simo, based in Amsterdam.

With her 15 years of experience in theatre and after graduating from the MA in International Performance Research she decided to follow her dreams and do what she does best, which is to work as a:

Performer

Andrada’s main focus in her own performing work is on crossing cultural borders, national identity and social cohesion. Additionally she often gets involved in artistic projects that trigger her interest and result in successful collaborations.

''I have rarely met such a compassionate and capable individual as Andrada. She is 100% committed to working with communities and has a deep understanding of the power of theatre and arts in generally in building and strengthening neighbourhoods. She is hardworking, reliable and solution focused. She will be an asset to any team she is part of as well as being able to work effectively with groups. ''
Janice Connolly
Artistic director at Women & Theatre
''During her time at ApsArt, Andrada integrated fast and naturally in our team and its framework. I immediately noticed her intelligent and critical contribution to the Community Theatre field. This impression did not fade away. She showed a great ability to translate her theoretical knowledge in creative practical ways. After she successfully finished the Applied Theatre Training we offered her, she continued working with us as a dramaturge and workshop facilitator. Within these functions she developed, together with a group of children from the neighbourhood, the plot and the scenes for a theatrical performance. Whilst working with this group she showed a great extend of devotement, enthusiasm and passion. It is amazing how fast she started learning basic Serbian words and how well she maintained herself in relatively new social environments. She found it to her cost what it is like to function in between languages, cultures and nations. ''
Aleksandra Jelić
Artistic director at ApsArt
''Andrada is intellectually curious and creative and she proved herself well during her MAIPR studies, finishing the course with excellent grades and distinction. She is highly and extremely thoughtful. Her enthusiastic and inquisitive attitude has been asset to all my classes, providing an excellent example to other students. I found Andrada to be a great pleasure to teach since she demonstrated very strong engagement with the subject matter both in class discussions and her written and performance assignments. Her research across cultural and national boundaries attests to her intellectual expansiveness and her cultural sensitivity. Her essays on contemporary European performance were outstanding, demonstrating excellent writing skills and an impressive depth of research, as well as an ability to synthesise the material into a clear and convincing argument.
